Subclass 190 State Nominated PR · +5 Points

State
nominated

Permanent residence with a 5-point nomination boost — in exchange for a genuine commitment to the state or territory that selects you.

2027 Reform Watch

A ground-up rewrite of the points test is under consultation, with a new test targeted for 2027. As at 3 July 2026 the current 65-point table still applies.

The Registration of Interest (ROI)

The Subclass 190 requires nomination by a state or territory government. Each jurisdiction runs its own occupation list, registration system and selection criteria — Victoria, NSW, Queensland and WA all prioritise differently. The national State and Territory Nominated allocation rises to 35,500 places in 2026-27, but state-by-state allocations had not been published as at 3 July 2026, and most programs (including Victoria’s) were yet to open for the new year. Being decision-ready when rounds open is the single biggest advantage we can build for you.

Strategic Requirements

  • • 5 nomination points added to your Schedule 6D score — often the difference in marginal rounds.
  • • Occupation on the nominating state’s list, not just the national list.
  • • A genuine commitment to live and work in the nominating state (typically two years).
  • • Positive skills assessment, under 45 at invitation, competent English or better.

Common Questions

Which state should I target?

It depends on your occupation, where you live and work now, and each state’s current priorities — several streams strongly favour candidates already employed in the state. We track each jurisdiction’s rounds and criteria and match them against your profile before you commit.

Is the two-year commitment legally binding?

The 190 is a permanent visa without a residence condition, but the commitment you give the nominating state is taken seriously — walking away early can affect future dealings with state programs and, in some circumstances, raise integrity questions. We advise on what the commitment actually requires before you sign it.

When will 2026-27 state programs open?

Interim allocations and program openings are expected between July and September 2026, consistent with previous years. Preparing your skills assessment, English results and evidence now means you can register the day your state opens.
